Sow hardy annuals & herb seeds

De-head daffodils & pansies

Divide Hostas

Plant bi-anninals, sweet peas & dahlia tubers

Dig out weeds from borders and use a mulch to suppress weed growth

Now is the tradional time to plant potatoes

Hoe around any plants to supress weed growth

Sow now:-

Protect fruit blossom from late frosts

Start feed citrus plants

Prune fig trees

Plant out strawberries

Hand pollinate peaches & nectarines

Tie back large flowering clematis, roses & early flowering shrubs

Feed shrubs & roses

Divide bamboos

Start making up hanging baskets for some early summer colour

Re-pot any plants that have grown to big for there initial pots

Check plants to see whether they would benefit from watering

Sow new lawns and patch up bare patches

Mowing can take place on drier days if required

Apply a high nitrogen feed to lawns at the beginning of the month used a combined fertiliser weedkiller and mosskiller if needed

Sow a wildflower meadow to encourage bees & other pollinating insects

Protect new spring shoots from slugs & snails start putting slug pellets down now

Control weeds before they get out of hand

Top dress container pots with fresh compost
