Finish planting wallflowers, primulas, pansies & other spring bedding plants

Plant tulip bulbs in containers or pots

Plant lily bulbs in containers or pots

Divide or lift perennials that are clogging up any borders

Remove fallen leaves from plant borders

Bring tender plants in from the cold to greenhouses or conservatories

Plant out Garlic

Harvest leeks, kale, winter cabbages & cauliflowers

Harvest carrots & parsnips

Dig over soil and spread with manure

Prune apple & pear trees and mulch around their base

Check that stakes are firmly in the ground to secure young trees during winter months

Prune raspberries, blackberries an hybrid berries and plant bare rooted canes

If the ground has not yet frozen you can still plant out trees, shrubs & bare root hedges

Take hardwood cuttings from Rosa, Salix & Forsythia

Check tree ties are secure & climbers are securely attached to stakes & structures

To keep the greenhouse frost-free use a greenhouse heater or insulation

Lawns need little care now during the winter months

Clean up any remaining leaves with a leaf blower

Service and clean mowers before putting it away for the winter

Try to avoid walking on frosted lawns to limit damage to the grass

Watch out for downy mildew & black spot on pansies

Apply winter mulch to protect 'borderline' hardy plants
