Divide & replant perennial plants to encourage health growth

Prepare seed beds for the new season 

Sow some vegetables under cover to get a head start

Chit potato tubers ready for planting late next month

Fruit Garden

Start forcing rhubarb for the sweetest stems

Protect fruit blossom on top fruit trees like apricots, nectarines & peaches

Net fruit crops to keep birds off

Prune vines, cut off last years fruited canes that have fruited and tie down any new growth

Trees & Shrubs

Prune winter flowering shrubs that have finished flowering

Prune wisteria & hardy evergreen hedges

Brush of snow from trees & shrubs to prevent any damage to branches

Propagate shrubs by taking hardwood or root cuttings

Glasshouse

On warmer days ventilate greenhouses

Check that greenhouse insulation if securely attached

To make sure that greenhouse heaters are functioning correctly invest in a min-max thermometer

If it has snowed remove from roofs to prevent damage & let in as much light as possible

Lawncare

If planning for a new lawn, prepare the ground now by removing any weeds

Scarify & spike lawns

Unwanted mushrooms can be removed by brushing them from your lawn

Lay turf on the ground if the ground isn't to wet or frosty

Pest Control

keep checking plants for pest, disease & plant rot
